Stomach cancer symptoms diagnosis. Men have twice as much chance of getting stomach cancer than women. The majority of patients suffering from stomach cancer are older than sixty years. Today, this form of cancer is less common in Western countries. This is due to the discovery and possible treatment of the bacterium called helicobacter pylori.

The tumor site in the stomach strongly determines the complaints you will eventually get. However, in the initial stage, stomach cancer will hardly or, at all, cause no complaints. The following symptoms may indicate stomach cancer, but may also be associated with another disease or condition:
  • Decreased appetite
  • Dislike of highly fragrant food
  • Unexplained weight loss
  • After a meal, have a full feeling soon
  • The feeling is that the food passes the stomach more or less
  • Nausea
  • Frequent handing over
  • Bloodbreaks
  • Burning stomach acid
  • Fatigue
  • Dizziness
Fatigue and dizziness are often the result of anemia in the case of stomach cancer due to a prolonged period of blood loss from the stomach. As a rule, such a blood loss will not be easily detected. In certain cases, however, it can be detected by detecting a black and bloody stool.

Stomach cancer diagnosis
In order to diagnosis of stomach cancer, various medical examinations can be performed such as:

Gastroscopy
In a large number of cases, the diagnosis of stomach cancer can be diagnosed with gastroscopy. A gastroscopy is a viewing operation that brings a small camera into the stomach with a flexible hose through the esophagus. The inside of the esophagus and the stomach can be well understood in this way. In addition, the doctor may remove biopsies (small pieces of tissue) to study later in the laboratory microscopically. Malignant cells can be detected so easily and the diagnosis of stomach cancer can be assured.

Blood research
Anemia is one of the conditions that can be detected by blood tests. In the case of stomach cancer anemia may occur due to long-term blood loss. Furthermore, the blood test will tell the treated doctor a lot about the overall condition of the patient in question. Furthermore, it is not possible to detect stomach cancer with blood tests. However, the stage of stomach cancer can be established so that the most appropriate treatment can be initiated.

CT scan
In order to accurately determine at which stage the stomach cancer has ended, a so-called CT scan is usually made. A CT scan is called a so-called imaging research using x-rays, often in combination with a contrast fluid, to get a good image of the stomach, and often also of the liver. A number of detailed pictures are made showing the size of the tumor and whether there is any growth in surrounding tissues or organs. Dissolutions in other parts of the body can also be revealed by means of a CT scan.

Endo-ultrasound
An internal echo that is transmitted during a gastroscopy is referred to as an endochromatography. An endless echo device is attached to the endoscope used for gastroscopy. Based on this research, it can be determined how far the tumor has grown through the stomach wall.
